| Its my first year at Teesdale comprehensive everything is new and different. One of my favourite lessons was, as we called back in the good old days, "cookery". That was the first time I had heard anyone talk of God in any degree of faith induced belief. Now its half way through my first year and I walked into a normal chemistry lesson straight to my seat just slightly right of the teacher Mr Smallwood, generally a really pleasent teacher, he had habit of inter-locking his fingers on his desk in front of him, this time I noticed that he had a fresh scar down the back of his hand ,asking him what he had done he replied "I spilt some acid on my hand" my reply would change my outlook on life for ever "Jesus Christ" was my answer, "don't ever let me here you blaspheme again" was his sharp reply, then I heard that voice ,as clear as the day is long, "Hello Mark its me God" Your probably wondering what this has to do with band ,well its how I came to play the guitar. Many times I tried to learn to play but it never worked. At this time I was in the youth fellowship in Barnard Castle and our worship leader had decided to go and do work for Logos Ministries in Ireland, now we were short of a worship leader until somebody came to me in the church and said "God wants you to learn the guitar and lead worship, before you know it 3 weeks have past and I'm leading worship on the guitar. I know that might sound a bit strange to some but that's what happens if God wants you to do something. After a along spell away from church David, Dale and myself joined forces to become "Beyond Yellow" only ever to gig twice, not a lot I know BUT! we did write an awful lot of songs together. Then Evidence Based were short of an rhythm guitarist. They asked, and I joined, and it has been a ball! One of my greatest passions in life is fishing, especially with my mates, but something I will always be grateful of is that God gave me a gift to be able to play the guitar, not just on my own but with a group of people I call my friends.
